how to drink more water in ten easy steps

  1. invest in a brita filter... or a filter for your tap... or a faucet... or learn to harvest rainwater... really, any source of clean drinking water will work here.
  2. determine the amount of water your body needs. helpful hint: divide your body weight in half. (i.e. if you weigh 160 pounds, you should drink at least 80 ounces of water per day)
  3. buy one or two (...or three?) bottles that will provide the amount of water calculated in step #2.  i use the nalgene bottles pictured above. both were purchased on amazon. The blue one is 48 ounces and the pink one is 32 ounces. together, they provide 80 ounces of liquid awesomeness. important features: no leak, portable, easy to clean
  4. high five for saving the environment one reusable bottle of water at a time!
  5. Fill bottles with drinking water in the morning before work/school/netflix/etc.  this is key for all the water snobs (like me) that only drink ice cold filtered unicorn tears harvested by whistling leprechauns. this is also key for the lazies (like me) that don't want to waste time & energy refilling the bottles later.
  6. keep your friends close and water bottle closer.  if you leave your water bottle in your bag/car/fridge, you will forget about it.  pretend your bottle is your baby; never let it leave your line of sight.
  7. enjoy refreshing water throughout the day. set reminders on your phone if you have to.
  8. feel good when you finish the last sip; partially because you've met your hydration goal, but mostly because an empty bottle is much easier to carry.
  9. before bed, rinse the water bottles and put them on the counter so that they will be ready and waiting in the morning.
  10. repeat steps 5 though 9, and in no time at all, you'll be feeling like Queen bey.
please drink responsibly :)

how do you hydrate?

  1. I hope my comments won't freak you out! I have a very bad habit of chewing my lips and/or my inner cheeks, if that makes any sense. It's pretty bad, but I fight it by drinking water every time I notice that I'm biting my lips again. And after I drink water I put chapstick on, so that my ritual is complete. I know, I know. Pretty crazy. But it works, right? :D
